ALERT!: Crosswalk Enforcement Sting Thursday Night
The police will be doing night time crosswalk enforcement on Belmont at Seminary (just west of Sheffield) Thursday evening from 7:30 to 9:30 PM.
Same drill as always. Cops act like pedestrians and try to cross the street at the well marked crosswalk.
If you’re driving and don’t stop to let the “pedestrian” walk on by, you face a big dollar ticket ranging from $50 to $500.
PLEASE! Drive safely and stop for pedestrians at crosswalks all the time. Especially tonight on Belmont Ave.

ALERT!: Critical Mass Bike Ride Friday Evening
Yeah, it’s the last Friday of the month and that means a few thousand bike riders will take to Chicago’s streets this evening for Critical Mass.
For whatever reason, the route is being kept under wraps until the Mass steps off at 6:00 PM from Daley Center. The ride, we’re told, has been getting a little bit of heat from CPD lately, so this may be an effort to keep attention from the cops to a minimum.
City Hall To Cops: Write More Parking Tickets
According to a memo leaked to the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago’s finest is not writing enough parking tickets.
In a leaked memo from City Hall to police brass, it points out that city wide police ticket writing is down 25% through July of this year compared to this same time last year. Ticketing fell from around 850,000 cop issued tickets through July 2009 to just 642,000 police issued tickets through July 2010.
While the memo doesn’t explicitly tell cops to write more tickets, it does say that revenue projections from ticket writing will not be made if the current trend continues.
