Police and 10 city tow trucks will be out in force starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday evening ticketing and towing cars parked on area residential streets which do not display the residential parking permits or guest passes with the LV-2 or 383 designations. The restrictions continue until 10 p.m.

The parking tickets carry a $50 fine, but drivers will also have to pay $160 to retrieve their car from the auto pound.

“We ask people to watch for parking signs in residential neighborhoods,” said Department of Streets and Sanitation spokeswoman Anne Sheahan. “We don’t want anyone getting parking tickets. Just be respectful of the neighborhood and watch for signs.”

The strict parking restrictions — in an area roughly bordered by Lake Shore Drive to the east, Ravenswood Avenue to the west, Belmont Avenue to the south and Montrose Avenue to the north — will be in effect for 27 Cubs night games this year, and possibly more.

But some Wrigleyville residents are opposed to the idea of adding more parking in Lakeview.

A petition has been started asking Ald. Tunney saying “Don’t Turn Lakeview into a Parking Lot,” and to pursue policies which promote alternative transportation methods which encourage bike riding, walking or public transportation.

About 200 people have signed the petition so far.

Otherwise, it’s a ticket and a tow for you.

Just avoid driving in Lakeview the next two days.

This Tuesday evening kicks off the start of two back-to-back night games at Wrigley Field.

In other words, night game parking restrictions are in place all over the Wrigleyville and greater Lakeview neighborhoods starting at 5 PM and lasting until 10 PM.

This means, if you do not have the proper residential parking permits or RPP guest passes stuck to your windshield your car faces a ticket and potentially a trip to the auto pound courtesy of a Streets & Sanitation tow truck.

Avoid driving in Lakeview this evening or, for the love of God, get out before 5 PM.

Assume night game parking restrictions will be in place as of 5 PM.

It’s two for Tuesday.

Tuesday evening Wrigleyville sees the second Cubs night game of the season.

The Cubs try to make it two games in a row after their 1-0 win against the San Diego Padres at last night’s game.

Remember, parking restrictions kick in at 5 PM and last until 10 PM.

If you don’t have a proper residential parking permit or guest pass, you can be ticketed and towed.

Our advice?

Stay out of Lakeview Tuesday night.
