Global Parking Management Back In The News

It looks like local private booting specialists, Global Parking Management is getting some unwanted media attention via WGN-TV.

Reporter Tom Negovan does a report spotlighting two motorists nabbed by Global Parking. WGN’s cameras follow one driver trying to get the boot off his car parked at the Village Thrift lot in Roscoe Village. Surprisingly, he prevails and the boot gets removed. Most likely because of the TV cameras.

Another gentleman, the driver of an organ transplant ambulance, got confused picking up burritos at Burrito House on Addison at Kedzie. He parked in the lot immediately adjacent to the restaurant and came out to find a boot on, and I repeat–his ambulance!

Interesting piece.

My son had our car booted by Global Parking Management outside the Dunkin Donuts owned by Alley Stores. It cost me $115 because he crossed the road before he went into Dunkin Donuts. The person who pounced on the car with the boot threatened him with towing and then hung up on me twice. The property manager for GPM told me this: “You have no recourse.” “Consider it a learning experience.” When I told him I thought his business was not reputable, his response was, “And I think you are an asshole.” I’m amazed that the City of Chicago allows for this kind of business to operate. When I called the poiice to see if this was a scam and if it was legal they were most uncooperative.

Today, my wife, Nicole went to the FedEx Office at 3001 N. Clark (near Wellington), and she parked in the store parking lot. While she was there, she found that she didn’t have enough money. She went across the street, to use an ATM, and, while she was gone, an employee of Global Parking Management booted her car, because the parking lot has a sign that says that the lot is for customers of the FedEx Office, only. She told him that she was in that business and that she was going back to it, after she was gone for a few minutes. He refused to take the boot off until she paid $115. Please avoid that business, until they stop using Global Parking Management.

Steve- it is a learning experience for many millenium people have ignored the signs and did whatever the hell they wanted now there are repercussions for their actions.

In the air tonight- your saying that fedex does not take debit or credit cards???? Take your business else where

  4. DoR Employee says:

    Global Parking Management In Chicago
    6666 N. Western Avenue
    Chicago, Illinois 60645

Its a State Farm office though.

  5. Lance Uppercut says:

. . . and FedEx most definitely DOES take credit cards.

Sounds like a setup to me.

  6. Jeff says:

My… jump to conclusions much? Maybe Phil Collins’ wife doesn’t have a debit or credit card? Or prefers not to use them for these types of purchases? Either way, if the story is true then the booting was clearly ridiculous.

  7. SM says:

Despite what their signs say, Global Parking is NOT at 6666 N. Western Ave. Why does the City of Chicago allow Global Parking to be so deceptive?

This is the correct info for Global Parking:

    Global Parking is located at:

    2148 N. Damen Ave.
It is on the corner of Damen and Shakespeare.

There is no sign identifying Global Parking. The signs say FruitFlowers. The owners operate both FruitFlowers and Global Parking out of the same space.

Contact Mike Denigris, Roseanne Denigris or Joe Grillo. According to State of Illinois records, these people own both FruitFlowers and Global Parking.

If you contact the owners, expect to be treated harshly.

You can also file a complaint with Alderman Scott Waguespack of the 32nd Ward. Global Parking is on probation in the 32nd Ward for their unethical tactics and bad behavior.

    Hi
My sister, 2 kids & I went to Taylor st yesterday for Italian Ice. She parked at the Chase bank. It said customer parking for 15 mins. We are both customers & were parked there for about 5 mins. When we came back there was a boot on her car. She tried explianing to the man that she IS a Chase customer. He told her she didn’t go inside first & he needed her $115 to feed his kids. She kept pleeding with him to no avail. Then for no reason, in front of a 9 & 10 year old kids told her to get her racist ass out of here & called her a bitch. We did NOTHING to this man to be treated like this.

We were going to Caffe Gelato at 2034 W Division (by Damen) and parked our car in their parking lot. We then decided to walk into the dog store across the street (Doggy Style) to grab a few treats for our dog who was turning 1 year old, and then went into Caffe Gelato. We came out to find a boot on our car and had to pay $115. The guy couldn’t care less that we went to an establishment in the parking lot that they monitor and wouldn’t listen to anything we said. I called their “management” office and after the lady yelled at me and wouldn’t let me talk, I just hung up. It’s sad that these businesses or the City work with a company like this. It’s all about money in this city….

  10. The Parking Ticket Geek says:

    TM-

Oops! Yeah, those Global guys are very aggressive.

    Here’s some suggestions.

1-Call 311 and file a formal complaint (although it sounds like you technically broke the posted rules of the parking lot).

2-Call the alderman in that ward. I’m unsure who’s ward it is. I think it’s 1st ward.

3-Tell the owner of Caffee Gelato, you will NEVER buy from them ever again because of your experience.

I know this doesn’t get your cash back, but if you want to get your opinion heard, these are some ideas.

  11. DoR Employee says:

And if you’re a ticket writer for the city…

Help out the Little guy and watch out for these pirates..

They are required to park legally unless they are actively Hooking a Vehicle.

In a tow zone? Ticket them

  12. DoR Employee says:

Jeff….if Mrs Collins didn’t have a credit/debit card…why was she going to an ATM?

  13. Jeff says:

It’s possible to have an ATM-only card that doesn’t function as a debit card. I’ve had one.

  14. Maria says:

As a starving artist, I struggle to stay a float in these economic times. I am a trained contemporary dancer, that tries to book as many shows as I can on the weekend. Trying to save on cab fare, I asked to borrow my sisters car to drive to my performance. On the way back from picking up the car, I stopped at the local CVS, to use their ATM. The ATM was broken. I ran across the street to a mom & pop shop, to use theirs. NO more than 5 mins later, I walk back to my car, and it has a boot on it. I didn’t understand, I saw no ’signs’ and being from out of town, I wasn’t used to these type of parking rules. When the Global Parking Managment employee,”George” ‘magically’ appeared and pointed out the warning signs, he literally had to push away the shruberry, that was covering it. I was in tears, because I barely have twenty dollars to my name, little lone the $115 he was asking, before he was going to call the tow company. Thank God, I have an amazing friend that was with me at the time, that was able to pay the $115 dollars. The real kicker, is that after all the drama, this heartless Global Management employee, had the audacity to ask my friend for her number, so he could take her out. This company is relentless, heartless, and just really sad.

  15. DoR Employee says:

If the Sign isn’t Visible…you can file a Complaint with the Alderman in Ward 32.

File a complaint anyways….but I stopped telling friends to shop with places that Use Global or A1 or Lincoln Towing.

At least the city is Honest about their booting and towing policy.

Half the putz’s that work for these companies don’t speak english and probably don’t have a green card.

I’ve had these guys wave at me while I’m working a street near one of their lots, and I tell them……..I’m not your buddy or your friend…don’t talk to me like we are in the same industry.
