Are you looking for a job?
Well, despite the fact the city of Chicago is doing whatever it can to cut jobs, freeze wages and force unpaid days off in almost every other sector of city government, it seems the Dept. of Revenue has plenty of work to offer.
The city posted a job announcement late Monday, a job announcement for 50 Parking Enforcement Aides. No seriously, fifty!!!
Yes, the city is looking for 50 people to patrol the streets of our city and write those bright orange tickets we all know and love, when we forget to feed our meters, park in bus stops, and don’t buy our city stickers.
If you enjoy making people like me pull out our hair, scream in frustration, curse like a sailor and weep openly at times–this is the job for you.
The official job listing link is highlighted below in orange, but you may get an error message. Don’t despair, just do an advanced search and under organization, select Dept. of Revenue, and the listing will come up.
I will have more thoughts on this seeming explosion in PEA hiring soon. Stay tuned.

Guys, you might be better off following the contact information listed in the notice. I seriously doubt the city of Chicago – assuming they are still looking – are monitoring this comment thread and reaching out to people who express interest. That’s not how things work.
I’m intersted in this position, and hope that it is still open. I worked for Peoples Gas-Integrys Business Support for TEN years. I have been off work since Jan 8,2010 and still is looking for work. This position is right for me.
You must apply within cityofchicago.org job opportunities section….however position is temporarily closed.
