TNTerry-

I used to have some of that wink wink when I wasn't a 45 year old loser. Ahhhh! The good ol' days.

I hope this makes you feel better, but normally, things like traffic fines or parking fines, do not get reported to credit agencies and when they do, they have little to no effect. If you had thousands of dollars in unpaid fines, that would be a different story. But $200? No big deal.

Keep on wink winking TNTerry.

Okay, first off this didn't happen in Chi. Hopefully you can still help. I'm a student in Nashville,TN, also known as the Athens of the South due to the fact that there were more colleges per thirty mile radius here at one time than any other area of the South. That being said, as a student of one school, and an overnight visitor to many of these colleges (wink wink), I seem to have acumulated fines to the tune of $200 or so. My great faith in the forefathers of America leads me to believe that this won't affect my credit, or life for that matter, am I right? Please extend your "un-parallel"-ed wisdom to a poor Southerner... :-)

Krista-

I agree with you. It was a bit over the top.

It was an attempt at humor, rooted in unfair stereotypes. No offense.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Parking Geek- just wanted to tell you that I think your comments about South Carolina were very stereotypically rude. Just FYI, Charleston has become increasingly metro over the years and a majority of the residents here are young adults. Charleston county was BLUE this past election. I've lived in South Carolina for 15 years (I'm 23) and when I traveled to Chicago, Boston, NYC, etc., no one could even tell I was 'southern' because, as it may surprise you, the majority of people here do not speak like ignorant fools. Also, you shouldn't generalize that South Carolinians don't have teeth and can't comprehend anything beyond simple English. That is obviously absurd. I suppose a major difference here is that you're judgmental and Southerners are a bit more courteous than that. I'm really not offended, I just hate the idea that people actually believe these kinds of things about ALL Southerners. It's just crazy!

7 years and never an issue.

If a thief is going to break into my car then my city sticker is the least of my issues.

The fact that you would consider ticketing me for improper display is one of the reasons why people have such hatred for the DOR and its employees. There's plenty of more important things to worry about.

Angry Chicagoan,

Don't spend the money for the sticker shield. Besides the sticker not being properly displayed, it offers theives an easier target to steal the sticker. Maybe the dish lquid will work, but do you really want to risk dealing with the headache of fighting a $120.00 ticket?

Yet another reason to use sticker shield or, better and cheaper, put a drop of dish washing liquid on the sticker. Run it all over the sticker so there is a thin film. It will dry out when you stick it to the windshield and you can easily remove it. You can't tell it's not permanently attached.

Yeah, I had to have my windshield replaced and they switched the sticker. Even if the sticker doesn't look perfect, the 2009-2010 stickers should be out soon. Good Luck!

Sherye - Are you sure the right turns were completely legal? Specifically, did you come to a full stop before turning? I got nailed on that once. I rolled the stop a little, but that's enough to be a violation.
