Video Coverage Of Red Light Camera Case In Illinois Supreme Court

ABC 7 was on hand in Ottawa, IL to cover the oral arguments for Keating V. Chicago in front of the Illinois Supreme Court last Wednesday.

WGN News also did a piece on the hearing but, use video of speed cameras not red light cameras in their reporting.

The day before the hearing, NBC 5 sat down with Patrick Keating, the class action lawsuit’s lead attorney, to lay out his case.

    Per the Channel 7 report:

“Justice Anne Burke is not voting. She recused herself from the case because her husband, powerful alderman Ed Burke, is among those who voted to bring red light cameras to Chicago.”

There’s one less automatic vote, from the wife of Chicago AlderNanny Ed Burke. I’m surprised the Burkes actually made the right ethical call here. After all, this is the same couple who used their clout to have the Illinois Supreme Court ratify their “kidnapping” of a child over a decade ago:

A Burke doing the right ethical thing is shocking indeed.
