Sneezing Fits Causing Tragic Traffic Accidents?

What the???

According to the Kansas City Star (via St. Louis Post Dispatch) a driver lost control of his car, crossed the median and plowed into a car killing the young, single mother and critically injuring her 1-year old son.

But the cause of the crash was not driving under the influence or texting while driving or a tire blowing out, but a prolonged sneezing attack.

Shockingly, the newspaper contends this is not an isolated incident citing multiple instances where a sneezing fit has caused other accidents–some of them fatal.

Perhaps the only advice for a situation like this is to do one’s best to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road as quickly and as safely as possible.
