Lake Shore Drive Entrance Ramp Reopens Friday Afternoon
This critical entrance ramp had been closed since October 1st for major repairs to the viaduct that leads from Michigan Ave. onto northbound LSD.
The viaduct was in disrepair and had not had any large scale work since it was constructed 50 years ago. The viaduct’s retaining walls, overhead concrete deck and lighting were all in need of repair.
The other piece of good news is that the $1.78 million project got completed on time, and on budget according to CDOT.
“This repair project was necessary due to the deteriorated condition of the concrete of the viaduct deck and retaining walls of the ramp, which has not seen any significant rehabilitation since its original construction in 1963,” said CDOT Commissioner Gabe Klein. “We completed this critical repair work on schedule and on budget.”
