Chicago Woman Files Lawsuit Against Lincoln Towing

The “Lincoln Park Pirates” may be at it again according to CBS 2 News.

Recently, a woman who parked her vehicle in a lot near Halsted and Grand, came back to find it was gone–towed by Lincoln Towing.

The problem is, the woman had a sticker that allowed her to park there.

The property owner, the only person allowed to call the towing company to have a vehicle removed from the lot had not done so. He called the company, told them they had screwed up and demanded they return the vehicle.

Lincoln told him to pound sand.

Ultimately, the car owner paid the $200 to get her car back.

But now she wants justice and has hired an attorney to file a lawsuit.

Now, in an odd coincidence, after the lawsuit was filed, the tow company is eager to refund the woman’s $200.

Here’s CBS 2′s full story, “Woman Sues Towing Company For Wrongly Seizing Her Car.”

Just for fun, here’s a video of the Steve Goodman song that made Lincoln Towing famous.

Should sue for actual AND emotional damages..

    200.00 plus storage in actual

20 million in emotional to put them out of business.

  2. Drew says:

Lincoln Park Towing does this on a regular basis.

And they send out thugs to slash the tires of the vehicles in the lots where the owners have cancelled the contract due to resident or business complaints.

And they hire people with known criminal and gang ties because of their visual intimidation factor.

And they target lots where the residents don’t even have Lincoln as the enforcing Tow Company.

The Cops can’t or won’t do anything about them. The Aldermen are paid off by them.

The only way to deal with Lincoln Towing unfortunately is with a lawsuit or a gun.

Follow the money trail. Who’s palms are getting greased. No way could these crooks be operating like this for all these years without all of the north side aldermen getting their cuts.

Last night I yelled at a Lincoln Park tow truck driver to slow down. He was coming from the south through the alley, and as I have seen them do before, he honked his horn just as he shot through the alley across the sidewalk and into the street. I was on the north side of the street, and as he passed I yelled “slow down!” He slammed on his brakes and got out of the cab and said, “who the fuck do you think you are talking to, BITCH!” I advised his his style of passage through blind alley intersections was not safe, and that it was actually illegal to honk a car horn in the absence of a vehicular emergency. His response to that was, “we can drive however the fuck we want out here, BITCH!” His last statement was, “you are lucky I don’t put a funkin’ bullet in your head, BITCH!” I think it is time the Lincoln Towing cowboys got reined in or put out to pasture. Either they retrain or get new hires, or the the Illinois Commerce Commission should pull their license. I don’t think we should need to wait to readdress this issue after someone has been struck and killed by one of their trucks.

In response to a comment above, yes, my first thought after the interaction was, “I wonder if Lincoln Towing has any drivers that haven’t served time.” Gang affiliation did seem probable. Our prisons are too full, but this driver was let out before he was socialized and ready for others beyond the prison yard.

    David,

I try not to use stereotypes when talking about different groups of people, but let’s just say tow truck drivers are a different breed.

I would advise calling 311 and filing a complaint. All tow truck companies are licensed and regulated by the city. Hopefully you got a license number or tow truck number during this discussion you were having with the tow truck operator. Call 311 and file a complaint. Then, I would call Lincoln Towing and explain you just filed a complaint just to rub it in. Complaints don’t automatically imperil a tow company’s license, but it will make it harder on them.

It would be your lucky day if a Lincoln Towing Thug assaulted you. You’d get to sue those shitheads for everything they have, and be the new owner of Lincoln Towing.

But seriously, if the Lincoln shitheads all came down with terminal cancer I doubt anyone would really feel sorry for them.

Lincoln Towing service continues to disregard both state and municiple law. Something must be done. This morning my husband parked in a lot, admittedly posted for not parking. Only thing, the lot was empty. He went into starbucks and came back to the car in 2 -3 minutes. Lincoln Tow Truck drivers were attaching chains to the car. My husband told them he was back and ready to take the car. The drivers hurled obsecenities and abuse and drove away, almost hitting my husband with the truck. We will be filing suit.
