Pregnant Women Tasered Over Parking Ticket

Here’s a tip.

Don’t rip up a parking ticket and throw it in a police officer’s face.

Because you could get yourself tasered and thrown in jail.

That’s what a happened to a pregnant woman Wednesday, who was unhappy with a cop who wrote her a ticket for parking in a spot reserved for the disabled in a southside Walgreen’s parking lot according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

After shredding the ticket and thrusting at the officer, she swore at the cop then tried to flee the scene. She was then tasered with a stun gun, apprehended, thrown to the ground, handcuffed and arrested in front of her children who were still sitting in the car.

The woman was released from the hospital but was charged with a misdemeanor for simple assault of the officer.

The whole incident is now being investigated by the Independent Police Review Authority.

The fine for parking in a handicapped parking spot illegally is $250.

Ripped up the ticket, threw it at the cop….

Cop told her to stop and provide ID, and get a new ticket for Littering.

Driver attempted to shift into drive…officer ordered her to stop or risk arrest or taser for attempting to Flee.

Depending on where the officer was standing vis a vis the vehicle you might also consider her to be facing Vehicular Assault against a Peace Officer charges.

I read the news today Oh Boy….now I know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.

OMGosh, if this woman gets anything form our hard paying tax dollars, it just goes to show you how messed up our system is. She said her chest hurt her and looked down and saw she was tazered!! Just goes to show you how worked up she was (or was on some drug…just saying..) she did not even know she was tazered at first. I can’t imagine riping up a ticket and throwing it in an officers face and then trying to drive away. I say put her in jail for a few days because she obviously thinks she is the victim here!I NEVER parked in a handicap parking space when I was pregnant(4 kids) and I had complications with one!

I for one am glad the officer gave this ghetto animal a well-deserved attitude check.

This woman is wrong about five times over.

First she parks in a handicapped spot.

Then she rips up the tickets and throws it at a copy while cursing at him. WHAT?!?

Next she ignores the instructions of the cop to provide ID.

Then, she tries to flee the scene in her car and possibly uses her vehicle as a weapon against the police.

    What the hell?!?!?

Maybe she shouldn’t have been tasered, but then again…

WTF…this woman is an idiot. First off, she shouldn’t have been parking in a spot reserved for the disabled (god it makes me mad when pregnant women do this…I know genuinely disabled people who NEED these spots). Then she has the nerve to swear at the officer and throw her much-deserved ticket in his face when he was only doing the right thing (and this is coming from someone who isn’t a fan of the police), and refused to provide him with ID (which instantly equals another fine). She was warned more than once not to attempt to flee the scene, and when she did, they were left with no choice but to taser her. Of course it’s wrong to taser pregnant women, but she bought all of this on herself by being an idiot. If she hadn’t parked in a disabled spot in the first place, none of this would have happened. OR if she had been polite and complied with the officer / offered to move once confronted, she may not have even had to pay a fine (if you catch them in a good mood and you’re nice, they’ll sometimes “let it go this one time” or reduce your fine to a “lesser offence”).

If the woman was being issued a PARKING ticket and not a moving violation – then there was no need to provide the officer with an ID. NONE AT ALL. He could have simply recorded her license plate number and the ticket would have arrived at her address later in the mail. There was no reason for the woman to be arrested – what was the crime? Insubordination to a cop? Here’s what’s really scary … none of you KNOW your rights, because if you did – you would NOT side with the bullies … THE COPS. The officers did not follow proper protocol for issuing a parking ticket, whether the victim was pregnant or not. You fools who are commenting will be the reason that all of our asses are labeled as “criminals” by the criminals running our legal system! Line right up onto the conveyor belt and fall into the meat grinder you drooling zombies.

  7. DoR Employee says:

Nichole….when the Police tell you they want your ID, you are required to provide it…Period. End of Discussion. Look it up if you want.

    But here is the ILCS:

    (625 ILCS 5/11-203) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-203)
Sec. 11-203. Obedience to police officers. No person shall willfully fail or refuse to comply with any lawful order or direction of any police officer, fireman, or school crossing guard invested by law with authority to direct, control, or regulate traffic. Any person convicted of violating this Section is guilty of a petty offense and shall be subject to a mandatory fine of $150.

Personally…I hope you never Need to Use a HCP parking permit or zone….but your attitude is proof of concept that common sense isn’t common in this State.

I have a relative that is a first class Crook….Rap Sheet a Mile Long.

And even he is shocked at HCP space/placard abusers.

As for Proper Protocol for Issuing a Parking Ticket. For normal parking violations…proper protocol is : Write the Ticket. Put Ticket on Vehicle or Into Hand. If Person refuses citation…put into pocket and drop off to Desk Sgt at End of Day to be Mailed out.

HCP and Hydrants are my main Pet Peeve though.

Abusing Handicap Rules…Plates/Placards or Spaces…is about as LOW as you can get on the food chain of pathetic behavior by a vehicle operator.

  8. Pete says:

Did anyone ever hear an update to this case? Did the ghetto lady get a lawsuit payout?

  9. The Parking Ticket Geek says:

Good question Pete. I need to look into it.

I’m sorry that lady got tazed, but it sounds like she was acting like a real jerk.

  10. Nicole says:

To DoR Employee – the code states in your commentary, ” Any person convicted of violating this Section is guilty of a petty offense and shall be subject to a mandatory fine of $150.” Where does it state that any person violating the section shall be subject to physical harm and / or imprisoned? What is the definition of excessive force or police brutality? How does this situation NOT cross that line? Basically you’re saying that anyone who disagrees with an officer should be tasered and have the crap beat out of them. I hope I never need to use a HCP space either, but I’ve observed several parking lots and there are plenty to go ’round. But I digress. If a cop can only subdue a woman by taser or gun for a parking offense, THEN HE NEEDS TO FIND ANOTHER JOB OR GET HIS A-S-S INTO THE GYM! As officers, these guys should be held to a higher standard instead of being excused with “they’re in fear of their lives and can’t take any chances”. They are trained PROFESSIONALS. And with the level of criminality going on, we should be cautious of giving over our power to one of the most notorious gangs in this city – the Chicago Police Department. Furthermore, if this woman was named “Becky” – all of you would be up in arms – just the way you were when that poor white woman was being slammed around in the bar by that big brute of a thug Chicago Policeman. The cop said she was getting s-h-i-t-t-y with him and he had to teach her a lesson. He was only doing his job.

  11. Nicole says:

Oh yeah Ticket Geek – if acting like a jerk invites violence, then why aren’t you advocating to eliminate ALL ZERO TOLERANCE policies in existence? Isn’t that what Zero Tolerance is all about – fleeing from your offender instead of putting the offender in his / her place by giving them a smack? Why do zero tolerance policies apply to us and not police officers? Why can’t you defend yourself against someone who pushes you on the street (and you’re unarmed) but an officer can basically kill you for tossing a piece of paper in his face – and claim self defense? Do any of you think beyond your mode of programming?
