What a crock of shit, to extend the "central" business district to North Avenue. Even Division street would be plenty far enough. Anything to rape the drivers some more.

Mike,

There are 2 tiers of expired meter fines. $60 for an expired meter within the Central Business District--essentially between Halsted and the Lake, Chicago and Roosevelt.

Outside that area, it's $50 for an expired meter.

I got different fines for expired meter violations. (Incedentally one of them was issued at 4:04:01 when the sticker was until 4:03) Can they charge a different cost for expired meter violations dependent on the location?? If so, why?
Please help so I can fight both tickets.

C'mon DoR, they have the camera's in place, but it still very easy to grab someone else's ticket book. However you and I agree on one thing. Somebody should be suspended and fired for all of this nonsense.

I've read the stories of these cops and it sounds like they are full of shit. Even if they didn't really write those tickets, they should be fired for extreme negligence alone.

I will use the Department of Revenues Policy as an example of what the CPD should be doing...

At the beginning and end of every shift, we in Street Ops that write tickets daily turn in/pick up our Ticket Books/Ticket Machine.

It does not remain in our Vehicle over night. It does not remain at our Desk if we have one at DePaul/Ashland/Halsted/95th St. It doesn't go into our Lockers.

It goes to the Shift Supervisor. They stick it into a specific Location to Ensure NO ONE ELSE USES IT on any other SHIFT. And it is monitored by a CCTV to ensure it doesn't 'walk off' by 'accident' or design.

The Simple fact that someone Might have had access to someone else's Ticket book from a Different Shift is the first sign of Negligence in an Organization in regards to accountability. And in many ways, the CPD IS NEGLIGENT in procedures and enforcing them amongst the Rank and File (and some of the File are really Rank.).

And I actually don't have trouble believing that someone Swiped someone else's ticket book and wrote a few out of them. I've seen CPD Ticket books on the Dash of Private Cars. I've seen ANOV books on the Dash of non-Municipal/Municipal Police Plated Vehicles, and I've seen vehicles with State issued Moving Violation Ticket books positioned OBVIOUSLY on the Front DASH. (And the driver then whines "Oh, I'm a Cop. I can park like that." when they get a ticket for something that the average citizen would get a ticket for.)

We are NOT SUPPOSED TO TAKE OUR EQUIPMENT HOME AFTER OUR SHIFT UNLESS WE ARE ON CALL/DUTY 24 hours a Day. The Dept Director of Street Ops can't. The Director of Security can't. I Can't. The Police Superintendent Can't.

Off Duty is off duty, and ALL DUTY equipment is supposed to be in a secure location inside of your District/City Facility.

I'd say....

For the 2 that 'claim' theft of their parker books...

180 days Suspension...without Pay. For Failing to Adhere to City Policy to Secure all Department Issued gear that is required by department policy to remain at the District they are assigned. Which is a Rule 2 and a Rule 6 violation.

For the Other 2....Fire them and assist the Vic in his lawsuit.
