Yuppie Moms Get Towed, Whining, Complaining Ensues
CBS 2 covers this gem of a story in Lincoln Park.
Seems there is a new spot in town that all the young mommies enjoy bringing their offspring.
Turns out, the parking lot they’ve been using to park their Audis, Mercedes, Saabs, and BMWs, is not to supposed to be parked in.
It seems that since the building next door to the cafe got torn down in June, all the moms began parking there–at least until last week when close to 20 of the mom’s cars got towed by Phillips Towing Company.
All the moms and the cafe owner say the towing company didn’t post the signs correctly. They were not at the entrance and exits to the parking lot like they were legally supposed to be.
The moms got the message and the cafe owner is warning others not to park there.
A hard lesson at $200 a pop.
One of the fundamental rules of parking is simply, if it seems to good to be true–than it probably is.

Nah, I’m going to agree with the moms. If you don’t enforce no parking on a lot for months (and your posted signs are bullshit), it’s a dick move to go tow everyone one day. It would have been easy for the lot owner to figure out where all the cars are coming from and say something to the cafe owner.
“I’m very careful about where I park, because I know there’s no such thing as free parking in the city,” she said

I was in that area the other day after this story hit the news….my golden goes to a vet off of Lister and Damen…just around the corner from this place.
The Signs are posted…they are visible from the entrances, and they are not obstructed from view.
One of the Mom’s admitted in the video that “there is no such thing as free parking, and the Cafe Owner admitted that since the building was torn down, everyone just decided to start using it as parking.
I hate the Pirate Tow companies…but they are not required to “warn people” that they Might come by one day and tow the vehicles that are not allowed to be there.
In this case…the Parents were blind, oblivious and got what they deserved.

If the towing company pirates did not follow the law to the letter, they should be held liable for damages. If drivers must follow parking regulations to the letter with no leniency for misunderstandings, the same must be required of towing pirates.
