Taxi Drivers Gone Wild!

We’ve all seen some nutty taxi drivers in our driving careers, but some are crazier than others.

The Chicago Tribune tracks some especially bizarre and reckless cab drivers through the disciplinary process and show that some of these cabbies should have been pulled off the street long ago.

The Trib piece says 7000 citizen complaints against taxi drivers were logged last year, with 2000 of those were for reckless driving but only 18 of these drivers actually lost their cabbie licenses temporarily and seven had their revoked permanently.

Some cabbies who’ve gone through the process say the system is more about generating revenue from fines that it is about determining what cab drivers should be pulled off the street.

Follow the money – who is getting paid off to let dangerous cabbies keep their licenses? No way are they doing it for free.
