Bike Riders Mass Up Streets Friday Night

It’s the last Friday of the month drivers.

And that means a few thousand overly friendly, crazy bike riders will clog up streets somewhere in Chicago tonight for the monthly Critical Mass ride.

Of course, like always the route is unknown until Mass time. The big, bad bike parade steps off from Daley Center at 5:30 PM.

Do your best to avoid getting caught by the stampede of bike riders or you’ll be stuck for 15-20 minutes waiting for them all to pass.

As Critical Mass bike riders say, “Happy Friday!”

heard a bunch of noise, shouting, weird horns, etc yesterday around 6. wife asks “wth is that racket”. “probably critical mass”. checked the route today, yep

  2. No matter what route the bikes take aren’t they required to follow the law by riding In the bike lanes? Afterall that’s what they were created for.

    My Comment:

Huh? Since when are bicycles “required” to ride in Bike Lanes. Most streets don’t have bike lanes. You can’t get to most of the city if you have to stick to bike lanes. And most sane and sensible bicyclists stay OFF of streets with Bike Lanes. They are plain dangerous and should be banned.

Once again the Critical Mass(holes) give responsible bicyclists a bad name.

  4. My comment was directed towards riders on streets with bike lanes but insist on blocking traffic. I think we can agree that bikes blocking traffic is purely an ego trip.

Why is Critical Mass(holes) given complete exemptions from following any traffic laws at all?
