Online City Sticker Sales Off To Strong Start
UPDATE: Clerk’s office spokesperson Kristine Williams says they broke a one-day record for online sales on Wednesday.
The Clerk’s website sold over 20,000 city stickers online between Tuesday night and close of business Wednesday.
This jumped up online city sticker sales to over 64,000–also a new record.
The Chicago City Clerk’s webpage for city vehicle sticker sales hasbeen live less than a week, and it’s already racking up some impressive numbers.
The site was unofficially open for business Monday, May 16th, but was in a “soft launch” mode until last Friday. That’s when the Clerk’s office made it public to drivers the website was indeed active.
But in the few days since, the website has been very busy, jumping from about 2,500 in sales Thursday night to over 44,000 as of late Tuesday.
And that’s significantly up from the 8,600 that were sold last year at this time–about a 500% increase over last year.
Barely a week in office in her new job as City Clerk, Susana Mendoza had set a high bar for increasing online city sticker sales. She wants to grow online sales from 17% last year to 25% of all city sticker sals for 2011.
“We are cautiously optimistic,” says Kristine Williams, spokesperson for the City Clerk’s office. “It’s a very aggressive goal to go from 17% to 25%. We’re going to do everything in our power to meet that goal.”
Williams says the Clerk’s office staff try to get city stickers ordered from the City Clerk’s website in the mail within two business days.
In-person sales for 2011 Chicago city stickers go on sale on June 1st.
You can order your Chicago city sticker at the Chicago City Clerk’s website.

I got the renewal postcard Friday and then an email Monday.
Seems kinda backwards, send me the email first, then the postcard later if I don’t renew, save some money on the postage.
Agreed GLG, I got the same thing.
Also, I wish you had the option to buy only one pack of daily passes. Usually 15 is enough to last me awhile, but the only option is to buy 30. You can buy one pack in person, its just not as convenient.
