Frustrated Driver Creates Anti-Ticket Video

Seemingly inspired by an unjust parking ticket, one Chicago driver tries to exact some video revenge.

He’s created a YouTube video documenting the parking environment where his car was issued a ticket for a phantom illegal parking condition.

“To everyone in Chicago and to anyone visiting Chicago. Beware! Chicago likes to write parking tickets. It helps to pay the huge budget deficit brought on by City Hall corruption. Parking tickets, the boot, are restrictions are everywhere. Yellow or red paint or warning signs are not needed to tow you! Beware!”

Here’s the YouTube page.

  1. Geek, what’s the city ordinance say?

  2. Drew says:

    Doc…

    City Ordinance about What?

I watched the video….I get that it isn’t a Driveway….and that it used to be one before that building was built…

But the dude doesn’t comment about WHAT Ticket he received.

I see the ramped curb access…..

Is there a duplicate ramp access point on the other side of that location?
If so…it qualifies as a Unmarked Crosswalk Point….and it is a chickenshit violation that only the Police Issue.

Now there is a downside to those Ramped Access points on Sidewalks…

They are qualified as Disabled Curb Cuts….and as such no parking is allowed in front of them, nor is signage required. No HCP signs needed.

09-64-100(d) Park as to block access to or use of Disabled Curb Cut

    Its a 75.00 Fine.

Where does he get 310.00? It is not a Stop/Stand violation..so it doesn’t qualify as a Tow Zone…so Impound is Illegal. Even If it was a Driveway…that also is not a Tow zone violation…

09-64-100(c) Park as to block Access to/or efficient use of Driveway

A police Tow Order has to be filed out…and there would be a copy of it.

I also want to know where this incident occurred.

There is a lot of Missing Information….and I would bet that even DoR Employee or Ticketmaster or Capt M-Plate would want to know more to at the very least give a cognizant answer.

Not enough information about What the tickets were for in the 1:13 minute video.

And that Video is from Jul 25, 2010

    Thanks a LOT Drew!

Look at that guy! What a freakin’ dork! Total idiot.

    My face is burning red.

  4. Optimus Prime says:

I do not know if that guy knows there are curb cuts for the disabled that do not require a sign. However, no ticket should of been issued if the guy got one for driveway.

  5. Joe says:

Just got one on Hudson near Chicago street. That is insane, why couldn’t they use some yellow paint???
Did anyone manage to contest it successfully, and on what grounds?
    Thx!

  6. DoR Employee says:

Disabled curb cut tickets have a successful contest ratio under 10%

  7. PM says:

Drew: I recently got a ticket (actually two, two days apart) for:

09-64-100(d) Park as to block access to or use of Disabled Curb Cut

and I question the validity. The space is in front of my building in the middle of the street (i.e. not a T intersection) and has no other corresponding ramp access (or any other type of access) on the other side of the street (as you mentioned above). Based on that, is this something I can fight?

It seems silly that I have parked there hundreds of times in the past 7 years and have never been ticketed as well as arbitrary since I am not aware of any basis for that particular curb cut.

I would greatly appreciate your input.

  8. Anon Y. Mouse says:

Actually take a look at 5/208 of the Illinois Vechicle Code.

No sign = no parking law NOT in effect.

    Dismissable based on state law.

  9. Anon Y. Mouse says:

Correction : 5/11-208 of the IVC.
