Red Light Camera Protest Saturday Morning

RLC protester braves the cold on Valentine's Day in Chicago

Hate red light cameras?

So does Cook County Campaign for Liberty.

This Saturday (October 2nd), from 11 AM to 1:30 PM, members from the group will be leading the third of a series of demonstrations on Chicago’s northside to protest the red light cameras at the intersection of Foster & Sheridan.

That particular intersection  generated $463, 350, at $100 per RLC ticket for the City of Chicago in 2009 according to Department of Revenue records obtained in a FOIA request.

And they want you to come out and join in the fun picketing and passing out fliers to other motorists.

“Bring your signs and make a statement to educate and inform your fellow citizens,” says Cook County Campaign For Liberty organizer Scott Davis via e-mail. “Let’s ban Red Light Cameras in Cook County AND Illinois.”

For more info or to RSVP, check out the Cook County Campaign For Liberty’s Facebook page.

  1. Geek, do you mean $463, 350.00, is that all just for 2009, right? Don’t forget that figure doesn’t include unpaid tickets, late fees, boot/tow and impound charges. That’s good for another $6M.
