Matthew...problem with that particular point of view...

A Marked Squad Car is an Emergency Response Vehicle.

In Chicago, Marked Fire and Police vehicles and Ambulances are Exempt from Parking Violations/Boot. Only a Police Officer is Authorized to cite a marked Police Or Fire vehicle.

While I agree that it is an abuse for where that particular Squad was parked...how do you know he wasn't working a Courtroom as a Bailiff or there might have been a "No lights/siren" call in the area.

When it comes to Marked Squads...I don't assume and neither should you.

Oh...by slapping that boot on a Marked Emergency Responder vehicle...the dork could face criminal mischief charges.

Though this article makes the situation into a big joke, you can clearly see in the picture that the cops parked in front of a bus stop. Thus the booting is completely justified (regardless of who installed the boot). Checkout google maps street view of the NW corner of the intersection of Broadway and Temple Street in LA for proof.

Cops get to disregard certain laws in an emergency. Attending court is not an emergency.
