The Most Expensive Chicago Parking Ticket Ever: $1.5 Million

tick vertical

Ya shoulda just paid the ticket Officer Friendly.

Of course hindsight is 20/20. But that’s what the irate Chicago cop who was ticketed by a Traffic Management Authority supervisor two years ago should have done.

Instead, he and his three cop buddies arrested the TMA and injured her when they put her in handcuffs.

Because on Friday, the four were found to have violated the plaintiff’s civil rights. Now Jacqueline Fegan is walking away with $1.5 million of taxpayer money because one cop cried about having to pay a $50 parking ticket.

$50 + $1.99 for a pacifier vs. $1.5 million. Hmmmm.

I’ll take the $50 any day.

The Tribune has all the details.

Unfortunately, the cops will not pay for it. We will.

Maybe now there’s an outside possibility that Chicago Police Officers will speak softly and carry a smaller stick…but I doubt it.

And WHO sent you the tip about this story??????????

Sorry IP…I appreciate the heads up on this one.

  5. DoR Employee says:

Your not the only one IP.

Hell…I know Fegan. She is a dumbass…but she didn’t deserve false arrest or any of the other shit that that moron did.

the messed up part…….if it was a pea…..it would have been buried……

How do the officers pay for what they did? Do they get fired? Will they have to make restitution? How much do they pay out of each check?

A higher standard for our public servants is in order.

    DoR-

Even if the TMA was being a jerk about the ticket, or issued the ticket improperly, it doesn’t matter–she shouldn’t have been arrested and roughed up by the cops. Uncool, unprofessional!

They could have called her supervisor and filed a complaint. My guess, the cop could have got it non-suited if he did it the right way–especially if he was actually on a legit police call.

Now the rest of us are on the hook for the $1.5 million.

  9. $1.5 MIllion? I hope they beat the shit out of her for that kind of money. Or at least every city resident should get a free shot at her. Sounds like she won the lottery. TMA’s don’t do anything worthwhile… hell they create more traffic issues than they resolve.

when did this incident take place ? what year

  11. DoR Employee says:

TAC….regardless of the Efficency of TMA’s in general or specific….

You do not Assault a City employee.
You do not process a False arrest on someone for doing their job correctly.

Would you want to be arrested for “Jaywalking” if all you were doing was walking towards the drivers side door?

Your a class act……pre-school at the most.

This pisses me off. Well now I just can’t wait until I find a reason to sue someone….anyone…so I can finally get mine.

Verdict should have been: (1) IF she was injured (and I’m sure she did absolutely nothing to overdramatize a sprained wrist) then she should have medical expenses paid — though what possible injury could she have sustained to rack up hundreds of thousands in medical bills? And what, has she been unable to work at all for 2 years? $300,000 for lost wages and medical expenses!

    (2) Officer loses his job permanently. Period. That’s the only type of punishment that will make other officers think twice before doing something stupid like that and abusing their authority.

    (3) public apology from the officer and the city

    The end.

Instead, we all get to pay to make this lady rich. And then the city probably also has to respond by implementing an officer “re-training” program, wasting countless more dollars that will have zero impact.

But I can’t wait til I get mine though. Then all y’all goann make ME rich!

Before we all jump to conclusions, no one will have the full story from a couple of paragraphs of the incident. That being said, who hasn’t wanted to arrest or beat the person who gave them a ticket? This guy just did what most of us would like to do. $1.5 mil is crazy. As with most arguments both of these dopes were wrong.

Besides, the money should have gone to one of the mayors relatives.
