Minnesota Bitch Slaps Illinois Tollway
Despite the fact we really don’t cover tollbooth violations here, this story was too good to I-Pass up.
It seems that the Illinois Tollway system is sending out a lot of unwarranted fines for blowing through a tollbooth without paying, to drivers in Minnesota, who weren’t even in the state of Illinois when the violation allegedly occurred.
In fact, the volume of improper violation notices from Illinois has increased so much, the harassment from debt collection companies on behalf of the Illinois Tollway has been so profound, and the complaints have been so plentiful in Minnesota, their State’s Attorney, Lori Swanson has told Illinois to back off.
In addition, Swanson held a press conference to ask other Minnesotans if they’ve been illegitimately harassed by the Illinois Tollway system.

Unlike in IL, plates go with the car in MN. Sounds like the tollway ASSumed that plates work the same as here and they could simply look up the current owner on a 2 year old violation. Trib story a couple days ago on this mentioned someone who had contacted the MN AG because the tollway denied their appeal with proof of purchase after the violation date.

I am a canadian tourist came in usa unfortunately i missed toll as my GPS guided me. while I was going to pay unpaid toll, i found that there is no option for canadian license plat holders, so i contacted with couple of people who are working for toll in Illinoi, inidana no ones help me whereas illioni call center lady asked to pay maximum toll but how she does not know? I am scare that my 7 days grace periods is over and what types of lettering going to be issue againest my violation???
