City Hiring 50 More Parking Enforcement Aides
Are you looking for a job?
Well, despite the fact the city of Chicago is doing whatever it can to cut jobs, freeze wages and force unpaid days off in almost every other sector of city government, it seems the Dept. of Revenue has plenty of work to offer.
The city posted a job announcement late Monday, a job announcement for 50 Parking Enforcement Aides. No seriously, fifty!!!
Yes, the city is looking for 50 people to patrol the streets of our city and write those bright orange tickets we all know and love, when we forget to feed our meters, park in bus stops, and don’t buy our city stickers.
If you enjoy making people like me pull out our hair, scream in frustration, curse like a sailor and weep openly at times–this is the job for you.
The official job listing link is highlighted below in orange, but you may get an error message. Don’t despair, just do an advanced search and under organization, select Dept. of Revenue, and the listing will come up.
I will have more thoughts on this seeming explosion in PEA hiring soon. Stay tuned.

Guys, you might be better off following the contact information listed in the notice. I seriously doubt the city of Chicago – assuming they are still looking – are monitoring this comment thread and reaching out to people who express interest. That’s not how things work.

For all past and future posters on this thread.
The Parking Ticket Geek hosts this blog as information and is not affiliated with the City Of Chicago in any way other than he pays taxes, a water bill and occasionally gets parking tickets.
Furthermore… The city of Chicago hosts its own job site at:
Cityofchicago.org/careers
And that us the proper place to go to see if any agency or department is currently hiring.
Its not very encouraging that the people applying to be meter maids think they can do it on this site. Are these the kind of people who will be ticketing me for parking (legally)? Hopefully the city has a process for filtering these dumbshits out of the pile of applicants and sending them back to McDonalds where they belong.
THANK YOU DoR!
I approve those comments mainly because it’s so entertaining. I mean seriously, if you read that story from that many years ago and then think somehow commenting on the story will get you a job? No wonder you’re unemployed. SHEESH!
Im interested in the job to make more money & help me two sons to continue on with their education in college.

You know what DoR?
I should have locked comments on that post months if not YEARS ago.
DUH!
I guess it was so entertaining that some people would be dumb enough to not read the post made me giggle every time someone would post a comment, that I never thought of it.
It may take me a day or so to figure out how to do it, but I’ll figure it out.
I’d appreciate this thread remaining unlocked. Its entertaining to see how many idiots think that posting here will get them a job.
